Time Travel for Thor
The day Thanos killed Thor and the rest of the Asgardian people, and then obliterated half the Universe, was the day Loki spent desperately seeking a solution to undo what had already been done.
He knew time travel was possible even without the Time Stone, though the methods were often extremely dangerous and fraught with loopholes that could leave one trapped in nothingness or stuck in a particularly nasty alternative universe. Yes, Loki knew about all of that, but he still was willing to take the risk.
It became an obsession, trying to find a way to go back. He consulted all the spell books he knew, visited various magical locations, and spoke to surviving sorcerers. For awhile, Loki thought he would be stuck in this horrible reality forever, but then one day... he found it. The solution. A spell that would take him back to a point up to a handful of years in time. The catch? He couldn't tell anyone there what he knew, or else the universe would become unstable and revert back to its current state.
That certainly left Loki with a massive challenge; one he was willing to accept if it meant bringing Thor back.

Loki blinked, and saw gold.
He was back in Asgard's Great Hall, where some sort of celebration was being held. Dressed in the sort of clothing he would often wear to such feasts, Loki turned in a slow circle to take in his surroundings, mouth slightly agape as he recognized Asgardian after Asgardian, council members, aristocracy, and there- Odin and Frigga, sat at the head of the table. He almost gasped aloud. His dear Mother... maybe he could save her too.
And then there were the Warriors Three and Sif, which must have meant that Thor was nearby. Sure enough, it wasn't long before his brother rejoined his friends with a mug of ale, grinning and laughing at something or other.
There he was. And it quickly became apparent what they were celebrating: it was the day before Thor's coronation ceremony.
Oh. Damn.
Loki quickly approached Thor, not giving himself much time to take in the fact that he was alive and well before joining the little group. He grabbed a mug of ale for himself and practically started downing it, startling the others. That wasn't typical Loki behavior, and while he was aware of that, he needed a drink. Badly.
"Good evening, everyone. Lovely celebration." What on Asgard was he supposed to say now? He had to keep the coronation from happening, so maybe he should let his original plan letting in the Jotuns continue as normal. Was there any other way?

And an arrogant arse.
Moving over to the others, Thor grinned and clapped Loki on the back, hard. "Brother! You choose to join with us. Revel tonight. Tonight, we live and celebrate for tomorrow, I will be coronated. For all of Asgard!" For all of Asgard, others shouted for their kingdom.
His eyes widened and Thor finally looked down at his brother, his head tilting to the side a little in confusion. "Brother, are you unwell?" He blinked, sharing a look with the others. "Now now, brother. If anything, I should be the one worrying about tomorrow. Do not let that stress you now. For now, just revel!" He leaned in close, whispering in his brother's ear. "Loki, you will be there tomorrow, yes? I... I need you there."

Of course... he remembered that Thor had been a bit more nervous about the coronation that he'd let on in front of everyone else; everyone but his own brother. Still, Loki knew, even with (or perhaps especially because of) his hindsight, Thor could not become King at this time.
He needed to grow. Mature. That wouldn't happen if Loki removed the roadblocks in the way of this coronation. No, so far he needed to let the day go as previously planned.
"Of course I'll be there. It is your big day, after all," he murmured back, before taking another long sip of ale. There was no snide tone to his words. Loki was far beyond the pettiness and jealousy he'd suffered in the past. Now, his efforts were all about making sure the future didn't repeat itself.
"You shouldn't be nervous either. Enjoy yourself, and your last day as prince."

Thor looked over at his brother, but his grin didn't quite meet his eyes. No, the nerves were strong with him. Smiling warmly to the others, Thor rose to his feet and grabbed his cloak, shrugging it onto his shoulders. He smiled as he bid farewell, making it sound like he was going to find a woman to accompany him.
Instead, Thor wandered off alone. He desired to be with his thoughts and stew in his nerves.
Was he so ready to do this?

Instead, he walked about in a bit of a daze, causing those who noticed to worry, while others simply put his behavior up to jealousy that Thor was to ascend the throne the next day. In reality, he wished to soak up everything during the calm before the storm.
Speaking to his parents was unnerving, as he felt like Odin could tell what was going on. He had to put on his best facade against them, tossing out charming smiles and pretending all was well.
Loki couldn't wait to return to his old chambers and get some rest for the night. He needed to think. Think about what would happen after the coronation was interrupted. Surely he couldn't let Thor go to Jotunheim this time, could he?

Soon, he would be called. Soon, Odin would name him prince. And soon... Thor wasn't sure what would happen next. He would be a good and just prince, wouldn't he?

He barely slept a wink, and so, stood tiredly at his father's side as people gathered into the throne room, awaiting their prince's arrival.
Loki was tense as he waited, knowing the Jotuns would arrive quickly enough to stall the event, and Thor's temper would put it off all together. He really did try his best not to seem outwardly concerned or affected by anything, and so far, no one seemed any more the wiser.

He did not like that his father had disagreed with him. This was not the strong father he remembered, the warrior that he had looked up to. He was a coward. Thor stormed out of the vaults, his body seething with frustration and his muscles rippling beneath his armor. He did not know what he would do, but he had to do something.
The events unfolded as before. The fight with the frost giants did not go in their favor. Odin had come in to save the day, but at what cost? Thor shared a look with his brother, pain and sadness in his eyes as Odin stripped him of his powers and his birthright. Suddenly, the Asgardian was falling through time and space back to Midgard. His banishment would send him to New Mexico.
He had never felt such pain as being alone, without his brother there beside him.
He'd never felt such loneliness. "Loki..." He cried out, before landing on the ground with a large thud.
