Time Travel for Thor

The day Thanos killed Thor and the rest of the Asgardian people, and then obliterated half the Universe, was the day Loki spent desperately seeking a solution to undo what had already been done.

He knew time travel was possible even without the Time Stone, though the methods were often extremely dangerous and fraught with loopholes that could leave one trapped in nothingness or stuck in a particularly nasty alternative universe. Yes, Loki knew about all of that, but he still was willing to take the risk.

It became an obsession, trying to find a way to go back. He consulted all the spell books he knew, visited various magical locations, and spoke to surviving sorcerers. For awhile, Loki thought he would be stuck in this horrible reality forever, but then one day... he found it. The solution. A spell that would take him back to a point up to a handful of years in time. The catch? He couldn't tell anyone there what he knew, or else the universe would become unstable and revert back to its current state.

That certainly left Loki with a massive challenge; one he was willing to accept if it meant bringing Thor back.

Loki blinked, and saw gold.

He was back in Asgard's Great Hall, where some sort of celebration was being held. Dressed in the sort of clothing he would often wear to such feasts, Loki turned in a slow circle to take in his surroundings, mouth slightly agape as he recognized Asgardian after Asgardian, council members, aristocracy, and there- Odin and Frigga, sat at the head of the table. He almost gasped aloud. His dear Mother... maybe he could save her too.

And then there were the Warriors Three and Sif, which must have meant that Thor was nearby. Sure enough, it wasn't long before his brother rejoined his friends with a mug of ale, grinning and laughing at something or other.

There he was. And it quickly became apparent what they were celebrating: it was the day before Thor's coronation ceremony.

Oh. Damn.

Loki quickly approached Thor, not giving himself much time to take in the fact that he was alive and well before joining the little group. He grabbed a mug of ale for himself and practically started downing it, startling the others. That wasn't typical Loki behavior, and while he was aware of that, he needed a drink. Badly.

"Good evening, everyone. Lovely celebration." What on Asgard was he supposed to say now? He had to keep the coronation from happening, so maybe he should let his original plan letting in the Jotuns continue as normal. Was there any other way?
